Late aquatic explorer Jacques Cousteau stars in a new music video for Yellowbirds' "The Ceiling," thanks to vintage footage found by directors Caitlin and Josh Drake. The Drakes also included hand-painted animation and effects over the archival footage to create a colorful and nostalgic aesthetic. Watch below. (via The Atlantic)

Check out the beautifully pieced together Land Rover film below, created by Trunk Animation from hundreds of fan-submitted photos. Explains Digital Arts, "The film by directors Alasdair + Jock uses a wide variety of techniques including stop motion, pixillation, CG and digital montage to pull together all the fans’ photos. The entire film, which has been collaged together from hundreds of photos, has the feel of a rostrum shot multi-plane, but as everyone’s shooting digital, without too many actual printed photos." Studio Rewind and Sober Industries recently installed two animal sculptures in Rotterdam, Netherlands featuring audience-controlled projection mapping. Looking like large-scale origami, the sculptures of a rhino and an owl had multiple colors and textures projected unto them that changed via controllers. Watch it in action below. (via Visual News)

The touching short focuses on Ezra Caldwell who, in addition to building cutstom steel bicycles, is also a cancer patient and amateur photographer. The film is directed by Keith Ehrlich. Watch below. Kanye West debuted his new single "New Slaves" this past weekend by projecting a video of him singing it on building walls in 66 different locations across three continents. Technologist, author and Google director of engineering Ray Kurzweil stars in electronic musician Steve Aoki's music video for "Singularity." Says Joe Burrascano, ECD for agency Nathan Love, to Digital Arts, "This is a completely different look for the network, and that’s exactly what National Geographic wanted. Because the series itself – which details the many unsung cultural revolutions ignited during that time – was such a departure from their traditional programming, the goal was to catch people by surprise, piquing their interest while connecting them to the light-hearted spirit of the 80s.” Read more here.
