Sound Lounge Tunes Up for Castrol

The Brief:
Composer Harry Frost and Sound Designer Marshall Grupp of Sound Lounge Music & Sound Design created the soundtrack that accompanies this daredevil spectacle for O&M’s Castrol Oil spot, Danger. Eric Warzecha of Sound Lounge engineered the mix for this exciting stunt show that stresses the importance of using Castrol GTX. We watch our hero adrenaline junkie, “Danger” make mental preparations to jump a sea of buses. The crew preps the vehicle to make the death defying leap as sounds of the excited crowd and muffled announcements from a bullhorn signal the event’s start. As the speeding car hurls itself up the ramp and towards imminent glory, black muck dumps from the sky, squelching the racer in his tracks. Engine sludge is the cause of this stand-still debacle, and may have been avoided with professional strength Castrol GTX. more…

Tom Jucarone of Sound Lounge mixes sipping, slurping, and popping sounds in this spot from Capri Sun. Two well dressed children stand on the lawn partaking in everyone’s favorite juice-in-a-pouch. As one kid finishes the tasty beverage with a long drawn out slurp, he gets a devilish twinkle in his eyes. The troublemaker takes the empty bag and puffs it up by blowing into the straw. He then pounces much to the dismay of his friend. An explosion takes place, but instead of the bag, the kid explodes as his clothing comes raining back to earth empty. TIM STIPAN MAKES THE GRADE AT TECHNICOLOR CONTENT SERVICES NEW YORK

Technicolor, the Services division of Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE: TMS), today announced that digital colorist Tim Stipan has completed digital color-grading chores for director Steven Soderbergh’s twin Che Guevara theatrical features – The Argentine, and Guerilla. The films will premiere at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival on May 21st. Five different Technicolor facilities worked on Mr. Soderbergh’s films – highlighted by the deployment of a new workflow featuring Technicolor color-science to “translateâ€? the films’ original photography on the Red ONE digital camera to both digital cinema and traditional celluloid release printing. more…
