Steadicam X-Series – High-Performance Camera Stabilizer Support Arms
The next-generation Steadicam arm technology – the X-Series – features the G-50x and G-70x models. The revolutionary, patented Geo spring geometry optimizes production performance and elegance throughout its lifting range. The X-Series tames high/low arm travel with adjustable-length positioning that dynamically rocks the spring termination as the arm is boomed up or down. Powered by titanium springs, the G-50x arm smoothly carries any load from 12 to 50 pounds (5.4 to 23 kg) while the G-70x supports loads from 13 to 70 pounds (5.8 to 32 kg). The all-new bearing performance and geometry enhancements on the G-50x and G-70x arms make even the slowest cameras move ultra smooth.
 
The G-50x and G-70x Arm Specifications and Benefits
• The new G-50x and G-70x arm systems are lightweight at 8.6 lbs/3.9 kg and 10.8 lbs/4.9 kg, respectively, and user-maintainable, and have a 29-inch (73 cm) boom range. Both have soft bumpers at each end of travel so the arm can be boomed right to its limits without shot-disturbing clunks. Each also has Ride control that adjusts the iso-elastic™ response of the arm.
 
• Arm posts are locked in place by a single button or lever, so switching arm posts is quick and easy. This quick-change mechanism also has an adjustable drag for the post’s rotation, from completely free to totally locked.
 
• At the socket block end of the G-70x arm is a new, “kick back” link, which gets the arm further out of the way as the sled crosses the operator’s body, and keeps the arm from banging against the stops in normal operation.

Steadicam designed the new X-Series camera-lifting arm units with increased structural strength, improved geometry, and tough type III hard anodize on the main arm components, ensuring years of lasting durability.

EditShare showcases its latest release of Ark at NAB 2012; new capabilities include migration between different tiers of storage, deletion of individual clips from backups

The new release of Ark features an enhanced user interface that better displays important information about system status and performance. For the first time, Ark administrators can easily migrate media between different tiers of online, nearline “spinning disk” and offline tape storage. The integration between Ark and Flow, EditShare’s production asset management solution, has also been significantly expanded. Through the Flow interface, authorized users can now quickly and easily delete unneeded backups at the clip level and partially restore files from Ark disk to EditShare Media Spaces, changing wrappers and codecs in the process, if desired.

About the New Steadicam SCOUT HD System
Now available for HD/SDI, the new Steadicam Scout stabilizer system offers immense quality with all of the camera stabilization features Steadicam is famous for to facilitate production at an affordable price point.
 
The new Scout HD vest is a continuation of the comfortable Flyer® vest. An ergonomic fit of the breastplate combined with solid metal shoulder fasteners assures a new comfort level for extended use and a secure fit. The new vest and pad covers are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, offering extended durability.
 
The new Steadicam Scout tools-free patented Iso-ElasticTM stabilizer arm supports 18 pounds (8kgs) of camera weight. The no-tools Arm/Vest interface allows for quick customization to the individual operator.
 
“On-the-fly” weight adjustment frees the operator from dismounting the system to make changes. The adjustable and interchangeable arm post assembly is a feature usually found on more expensive systems. The two-section arm can also be separated for compact storage and transport.
 
The new 7″ Steadicam Scout color LCD monitor features enhanced image quality and a wide viewing angle. Even under bright sunlight this monitor is ideal for field production use. Optionally, the Steadicam Scout is available with a 7″ HD/SDI, composite 800 nit bright LCD monitor.

New advanced project sharing with Adobe CS6, bigger drives, faster connectivity and high-performance mobile-shared storage top the list of new EditShare collaborative storage features shown at NAB 2012
 
Boston, MA — April 16, 2012 — EditShare®, the technology leader in shared media storage and end-to-end tapeless workflow solutions, today unveiled new EditShare Shared Storage capabilities and systems at NAB 2012 (booth SL9012). “Just about every aspect of our storage has been enhanced,” says Andy Liebman, founder and CEO, EditShare, “from a new small form factor Atom™ storage system to project sharing with Adobe CS6, new cost-effective enterprise solid state drives (SSDs) that offer astronomical stream counts and 10 Gigabit connectivity options that promise to make 10 Gigabit Ethernet as ubiquitous as Wi-Fi.”
 
Avid and Apple…Now Adobe CS6 Project Sharing
EditShare networked storage solutions now support project sharing for the brand new Adobe CS6 Premiere Pro. Thanks to EditShare’s patented bin-locking / project-locking framework, Adobe Premiere editors can instantly see, copy or revise the work of colleagues with the assurance that a bin, sequence or project will never get accidentally deleted or overwritten. Like the previous version of Premiere, the new Adobe release is compatible with all advanced features of Flow, EditShare’s media asset management system, including drag and drop of clips and sequences from Flow into Premiere. The combination of Premiere CS6, Flow and EditShare storage creates a powerful toolset for collaborative workgroup production and editing.
 
Choose the right drives for the job
In addition to its traditional lineup of 7200 RPM enterprise SATA and 15K SAS drives, EditShare is now shipping systems based on the first cost-effective enterprise Solid State Drives (SSD). “We take advantage of new technologies like SSD drives to ensure that EditShare storage platforms are always fully optimized for all media workflows and all data handling requirements. These are the fastest hard drives ever made,” comments Liebman. For customers who require support for extreme stream counts, EditShare offers 480 GB SSD drives which, on a single set of 16 drives, can support 80 or more streams of ProRes HQ or Avid DnxHD 220, and hundreds of streams of lower bitrate video.
 
EditShare Shared Storage solutions let users mix all different drive types into a single system, assigning storage space according to the demands of the job. “We have made it so our customers can maximize on performance and price. If a job needs 50 editors all working on 220 Mbit video, you can put that on the SSD or 15K SAS drives, and for a job that is less demanding and that needs a lot of space, you can put that on more economical 7200 RPM drives. EditShare gives the best of both worlds with regards to price and performance,” says Liebman
 
New Storage Connectivity
EditShare Shared Storage systems now support two new 10 Gigabit options – 10GBase-T, which runs on standard Cat 6 and Cat 6A cables, and Thunderbolt, connecting newer Mac Minis, MacBook Pros and iMacs. In addition to the new 10 Gigabit options, EditShare enables multiple 10 Gigabit bonding. Liebman says of the new EditShare bonding abilities, “With the data rates going in and out of individual systems reaching 2 or 3 GB/sec or more, to get all that data between workstations and central storage, we now provide an easy way to bond multiple 10 Gigabit interfaces together into a single virtual device. So, effectively we can get 40 Gigabit Ethernet or even higher between a server and a switch.”
 
EditShare Atom – Shared Storage on the Go
At NAB 2012, EditShare introduced the ultra-portable, second-generation mobile-shared storage solution, EditShare Atom™. “Five years ago, we introduced EditShare Field, the world’s first portable shared storage system, and it was incredibly popular,” comments Liebman. “Customers used the Field for capturing and editing high-profile sports and news events such as Wimbledon, World Cup soccer, Tour de France bike racing, and even the Chilean mine disaster from a couple of years ago. Now, the new Atom™ represents a fully re-designed turnkey system that is 40 percent smaller, lighter and modular.” EditShare Atom ships standard with 4 x 3.5-inch drives. Users can securely dock to the top a 4-drive expansion unit or an LTO tape unit for backup. With Flow and Ark software included, Atom is the perfect solution for small news bureaus, on-location sports and film production, and even as a main storage system for small production companies. EditShare Atom is expected to ship in Q3, 2012.
