Blackmagic Design Wins Unprecedented Eight Awards at NAB 2007 for Three Products:

San Jose, CA USA – May 10, 2007 — Today, Blackmagic Design announced that it is the proud recipient of an extraordinary eight awards at the recent National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2007 electronic media show. Rarely has a company been recognized by post-production and broadcast users and media for such significant innovation and impact on their industries.

Multibridge Eclipse received four awards: a Pick Hit Award from Broadcast Engineering, a Vidy Award from Videography, a Top Innovation Award from Television Broadcast and a Pick Hit Award from Millimeter. Intensity Pro received three awards: a STAR Award (Superior Technology Award Recipient) from Television Technology, a Pick Hit Award from Digital Content Producer, and a Black Diamond Award from DV. NTC Clients Presented With Broadcast Engineering Facility Excellence Awards at NAB 2007

GLENDALE CA, May 8, 2007Broadcast Engineering, the renowned television-industry trade journal, presented two of its annual Facility Excellence Awards to recent NTC studio-renovation clients at NAB 2007. Discovery Communications received a first-place gold plaque in the “Post and Network Production Facilities” category for its new NTC-designed HD control room at its Silver Spring MD production center. Times Square Studios, in New York, was honored with a silver plaque in the “New Studio Technology–HD” category for NTC‘s HD upgrade of its Manhattan facility and concurrent HD/SD redesign of an associated network operations center one and a quarter miles away. Broadcast Engineering‘s 2007 Excellence Awards were drawn from scores of entries in multiple categories. Winners were chosen by Broadcast Engineering readers voting on the magazine‘s Web site and were announced in its March issue. more

Palace Produces Award-winning HD Video on Sculpture Park

Grounds For Sculpture, a 35-acre sculpture park outside Princeton, New Jersey, commissioned Palace Production Center to produce a high-definition promotional video for the park‘s visitor center.

Palace shot HD photography to showcase the art while providing an overview. Editing and digital audio finishing was completed at Palace Digital Studios. The 15-minute video won two 2007 Telly‘s, one for non-broadcast cultural programming and one for outstanding videography/cinematography. Palace is completing an hour-long documentary about the park for broadcast later this year. more

Rabbit Ears Entertainment to Release New Title Narrated by John Cleese

Rabbit Ears Entertainment‘s first new title in a decade, Tom Thumb, narrated by John Cleese with music by Elvis Costello, is due out in 2007 as a book, a hi-def DVD/video and digitally recorded audiobook. The long-awaited addition to the Rabbit Ears series of classic storybooks is in production at Palace Production Center.

Rabbit Ears re-introduced its entire catalog as audiobooks with Random House‘s Listening Library and Starbucks and plans to launch direct sales of videos/DVDs and books through www.rabbitears.com later this year. more

Docere Palace Studios Wins Top Telly and Aurora Best of Show for Documentary

Docere Palace Studios produced “Wings of Madness,” an award-winning, hour long documentary broadcast on the PBS NOVA series last November and now in international distribution. Docere Palace’s production won the top 2007 Telly award for documentary TV programs and the Platinum-Best of Show Aurora Award for documentary/biography.

Program tells the story of Brazilian-born aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, the spiritual father of aviation. In the early 1900s, Santos built and flew the first practical dirigibles and was the first to fly an airplane in Europe. The show uses CGI and live action shot in France and Brazil to re-create historic moments, rare movie archive of original flights as well as new footage of the recent building and test flight of a replica of Santos-Dumont’s 14 bis, which in 1906 made the first powered airplane flight in Europe. Docere Palace Studios is a co-venture of Palace Production Center and Docere Digital Studios. more

Io HD Earns Five Best of Show Awards from Broadcast Engineering, TV Technology, Millimeter, Digital Content Producer and Videography; FS1 Converter Wins Videography Vidy Award

AJA Video, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion solutions, today announced that the company garnered six awards at NAB 2007 for its Io HD and FS1 input/output and video conversion products. SIGGRAPH 2007 Computer Animation Festival Awards Announced

ACM SIGGRAPH announced today the Computer Animation Festival’s Best of Show Award, Jury Honors, and Award of Excellence winners for SIGGRAPH 2007, the 34th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, being held 5-9 August 2007 in San Diego, California.

The Computer Animation Festival jury selected three award winners from a record-breaking 905 entries for exemplary use of computer-generated imagery, animation, and storytelling. For the first time in the history of SIGGRAPH, two of the award-winning films are student entries. In all, 134 pieces were selected for the Computer Animation Festival. more

Animal Logic‘s Eric Whipp Wins Vision Prize for Happy Feet

Stockholm, Sweden – 17th April, 2007 – Digital Vision, a leading developer of advanced digital media applications specialising in film and video solutions, is delighted to announce that this year‘s Vision Prize goes to Eric Whipp, Head Colorist at Animal Logic in Sydney. ETC UK supplied widescreen projection for the RBI Achievement Awards event at Grosvenor House, London for producer Tom Perkins and his client, Reed Business International, one of the UK‘s largest business communications specialists.
