When the tech staff of Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church in Matthews, North Carolina was searching for the best digital console to replace an aging and inadequate mid-level analog desk, the worship facility’s missive was to secure a system that would meet all of their technical requirements yet include a logical and intuitive user interface, which would not intimidate its inexperienced, volunteer operators. Christ Covenant’s technical director, Jim Deal—also a veteran audio consultant in the area—took control of the project, specifying a DiGiCo SD8 system, coupled with a 56-input DigiRack. Hudson-Seymour, an integrator based in the Charlotte, North Carolina area specializing in house of worship installs, handled the installation.

“The system that was in place was installed when the church was first built in 1998,” Deal explained. “And as is always the case, technical systems are rarely more

Big-City Broadcasting in Small-Town Minnesota with Vaddio Camera Systems

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (February 23, 2011) – Just because you’re based in a small town doesn’t mean you can’t have big-city ambition. Husband and wife team, Doug and Beth Voss, run the audiovisual system at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville, a rural Minnesota town with a population of 2,200. Looking for a unique way to reach the extended Paynesville community they hired Intermedia Systems Group of Burnsville, Minn. to install a complete AV system featuring high definition video displays, a Vaddio HD PTZ remotely controlled camera system and a digital audio sound reinforcement system to back it all up.

The Objective

“Being ahead of the game was our goal, explained Doug Voss. “We saw what other churches were doing with broadcasts and we didn’t want to do a substandard job. Should we use standard definition cameras because that’s what everyone else is using or should we plan for more

The tagline for Dubway Days, “Two Artists… One Day… One Song,” sums up the mechanics of the show, but its drama hinges on the immensity of that task. Ben Arthur and a guest begin a day of more
