Christie Conquers the Elements with Introduction of New WeatherAll Series of Weatherproof LCD Flat Panels

The new Christie® WeatherAll Series of LCD outdoor flat panels makes its global debut at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show in Amsterdam, Netherlands on January 29, setting the standard for outdoor LED-backlit LCD technology. Rugged and versatile, the first of the WeatherAll Series is the 55-inch Christie FHD551-W, a professional grade full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) solution designed to perform in a wide range of applications including outdoor sporting venues, outdoor live events, architectural applications, entertainment parks, public displays, the hospitality and resort industry, transportation services, and numerous other outdoor environments not typically applicable with standard LCD panels.

Christie FHD551-W WeatherAll Flat Panel

.
“Christie is at the forefront in offering what customers need and the WeatherAll Series is designed to be the clear choice in an outdoor weatherproof display solution,” said Frank Anzures, senior product manager, Christie. “First in our WeatherAll Series, the Christie FHD551-W is easy to maintain while providing robustness and the vivid picture quality needed when presenting your message outdoors.”
.
The Christie FHD551-W features optically bonded glass for increased protection against harsh impacts and scratches in public display environments while enhancing viewability in outdoor venues by reducing reflection. It is designed to provide high contrast ratio, rich vibrant colors, and superior brightness to overcome high ambient light — making it perfect for outdoor use.
.
The ability to use the Christie FHD551-W in landscape or portrait mode is ideal for rental staging applications, resorts, hotels and restaurants, to provide impactful content in public areas, while being rugged and durable to withstand rain, sleet, snow, and human interaction. The Christie FHD551-W’s integrated speakers and sleek design makes this a visually appealing solution compared to traditional LCD products that would require enclosures when used in outdoor environments.
.
“The typical flat panel displays are not designed for outdoor use and the risk of damage when exposed to the elements is very high. However, the high definition Christie FHD551-W is designed to be IP56 rated / NEMA4 and has a DACS filtration system to protect it and allow for it to be used in harsh weather conditions and withstand the abuse of public display areas,” said Anzures. “With the addition of optically bonded glass it increases sunlight readability by up to 400 percent when compared with standard flat panels and increases scratch and impact resistance by up to 300 percent.”
.
For superior dependability in the most challenging outdoor environments, the DACS cooling & filtration system provides a thermostatically-controlled active system that protects sensitive electronics from temperature extremes, moisture, and dust. The advanced easy-clean solution eliminates the need for core filter replacement. The FHD551-W features a weather rating of IP56/NEMA4, providing protection against solid foreign objects such as falling dirt or windblown dust in addition to rain, sleet, snow, ice and splashing or hosed water.
.
“The Christie FHD551-W can easily manage temperatures ranging from a scorching 45 degrees Celsius (114 degrees Fahrenheit) all the way down to a bone chilling minus 20 degrees Celsius (minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit), as well as rain, snow, dust and high humidity, without those factors affecting performance. This new outdoor flat panel also boasts integrated weatherproof speakers to provide a full solution for outdoor use,” added Anzures.
.
Benefits of Christie FHD551-W with Optical Bonding

.

Integrated Microwave Technologies, LLC (IMT) Soars to New Heights on Yves “Jetman” Rossy’s Jet Pack at the New Zealand International Air Show

IMT RF Central microLite Transmitter Brings Live In-Flight HD Video to Spectators Below

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, JANUARY 25, 2013Integrated Microwave Technologies, LLC (IMT), a Business Unit within the Vitec Group’s Videocom Division, and a leader in advanced digital microwave systems serving the Broadcast and Sports & Entertainment markets, teams up with Quinto Communications, a prime distributor and systems integrator throughout Australia and New Zealand, to support daredevil Yves “Jetman” Rossy as he performs his breathtaking flying acts to open the New Zealand International Air Show on January 26th.

IMT’s RF Central microLite HD digital transmitter will be on board Jetman’s jet-engine powered wing to help the aviation trailblazer transmit high-quality live HD video of his flight to receive sites below and for live broadcast feed to New Zealand Channel 3 News. This will enable tens of thousands of fans to view his flight up close and personal on displays positioned on the ground. The New Zealand International Air Show, which will take place at North Shore Airfield, marks the first time Rossy will be flying in New Zealand.

Known as the only man to fly with a jet-propelled wing, the 53-year-old’s perilous flight will begin as he is dropped from a plane with only his wing, comprised of carbon fiber and four jet engines, keeping him in the air. Reaching speeds of up to 300km/h Rossy will steer using his body movements. According to him, this allows him to fly as free as a bird. Thanks to IMT’s microLite video transmission capabilities, those attending the air show will be able to view his flight, which will be captured by two GoPro cameras mounted on the jet pack’s wing tips.

“We’ve been working with IMT for several years due to the quality and reliability of its products,” says Tom Pavicic, chief executive officer at Quinto Communications. “IMT’s cutting edge technology is what attracts our customers to the company again and again, and we are happy to be the provider of choice in the region.”

The microLite transmitter provides high-quality, full-HD video directly to ground-based receive equipment. The RF Central microLite HD is an ultra-compact MPEG-4 COFDM digital transmitter designed for the next-generation of compact cameras featuring full HD/SDI capabilities. Its ease of use and ultra-low electrical power requirements gave Rossy everything he was looking for when selecting the video transmission equipment for his flight. The antenna on his wing is a blade antenna from Haigh Farr, recently acquired by the Vitec Group. Haigh Farr represents some of the finest antenna engineering in the world. Offering a truly hemispherical pattern, its blade antenna helps ensure that the signal is transmitted to the ground.

“We are excited that Yves Rossy continues to use IMT’s technology to transmit live HD video to his spectators on the ground, as it is a testament to the engineering and quality of our products,” says Integrated Microwave Technologies Divisional Chief Executive Stephen Shpock. “The ease of use of the RF Central microLite transmitter enables Rossy and his team to set up an RF video solution with confidence.”

Alcorn McBride Releasing Timeline Feature for V16 Pro and New RideTraXX Synchronized Multi-channel MP3 Player at ISE

Alcorn McBride made headlines at the IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) conference in November where it unveiled a Timeline feature for its line of Pro Series controllers and released the mobile RideTraXX synchronized multi-channel MP3 player.

Timeline is a new feature within WinScript Live, the program used for Alcorn McBride controllers. It will be released for download during ISE and has no additional charge. The Timeline feature offers a flexible way to program events on the Pro Controllers, which supports hundreds of time-based and event-based sequences and hundreds of timelines. This feature allows users to add markers, drag and drop events, add triggers, and group related events for fast editing. With the flexibility of timeline, users can change event values and times all while the show is running. Timeline can zoom in to a specific point in the show and mix timed and logical events on a single view without overlapping events.

RideTraXX also made its debut at IAAPA and will be shown and available for shipping at ISE. The mobile multi-channel MP3 player delivers synchronous playback for creative immersive environments and high-inertia vehicle applications, including dark rides, roller coasters and simulators. It plays up to 16 synchronous channels at 128kbps, 10 channels at 192kbps, or up to eight channels with crossfade to a second set of eight channels. It offers network, serial and GPI control. It stores MP3 files on CompactFlash; with no moving parts it provides a reliable and maintenance-free solution.

The rugged new mobile audio player is sized to fit almost anywhere and can withstand harsh conditions and high vibrations. All boards are conformal-coated for moisture resistance; all connectors are locking high-vibration resistant, with high-surface contact points. Shock mounting is included, with various options available depending on the G-Load and frequency response of the vehicle.

WorldStage Adds New Yamaha CL5 Digital Audio Consoles for Rentals and Staging

WorldStage, the new brand for Scharff Weisberg and Video Applications Inc., has chosen the Yamaha CL5 digital audio console and accompanying Rio (Remote/IO) stage rack as its new audio console and immediately made them available for audio system rentals and staging.

The Yamaha CL Series is a Dante network–based console featuring remote I/O for a faster, more responsive system solution. The footprint of all three CL consoles in the series is small, yet powerful and has been developed specifically for sound reinforcement applications such as performing arts venues, theaters, houses of worship, touring and remote broadcast.
The Yamaha CL5 mix capacity is 72 mono plus 8 stereo inputs (64 channels through Dante and 8 local), with 34 faders. It features 16 DCAs, channel encoders and supports 48kHz and 44.1kHz sampling rates. Up to eight external Rio boxes can be used for a total of 256 channels via the Dante digital network.
“We’re excited to be one of the first in the New York area to offer this system to our clients,” says WorldStage Director of audio services David Lynd. “The CL5 is well suited as a mixer for corporate as well as music events. With 64 remote inputs and 8 local on the desk it satisfies our clients’ requests for a console with higher channel counts. The CL5s give us more inputs in a small form factor; running fiber instead of large, heavy copper multi-core audio snakes is also a major plus.”

WorldStage president Josh Weisberg says the company chose the CL5 after an extensive search. “We like its compact, ergonomic design, easy-to-learn user interface and broad feature set. The CL5’s aggressively competitive price point allows WorldStage to use the console on a wide variety of projects that would have formerly utilized older analog boards,” Weisberg concludes.

WorldStage Inc., the company created by the merger of Scharff Weisberg Inc and Video Applications Inc, continues a thirty-year legacy of providing clients the widest variety of entertainment technology coupled with conscientious and imaginative engineering services. WorldStage provides audio, video and lighting equipment and services to the event, theatrical, broadcast and brand experience markets nationally and internationally.
