ETRI and KBS Award T-VIPS Korean Games Gold after winning against Uncompressed and MPEG-4 Contribution Solutions

T-VIPS JPEG2000-based Video Gateway provides live, high-quality 3D contribution solution for the IAAF World Athletics Championship between Daegu Stadium and the Korean Broadcast System (KBS) Media Centre

Oslo, Norway – T-VIPS, a global leader in professional video contribution and distribution solutions, today announced that its TVG450 JPEG2000 Gateway solution was deployed by Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and Korean Broadcast System (KBS) to provide the transport of 3D video from the IAAF World Athletic Championships at Daegu Stadium to the KBS media centre.

The T-VIPS JPEG2000 solution was chosen after rigorous on-site 3D trials earlier this year. These trials pitted the T-VIPS JPEG2000 solution against uncompressed and MPEG-4 based contribution solutions, with the T-VIPS solution being selected due to its highly impressive left/right eye video synchronization, low latency, ease-of-use, high-quality and cost-efficiency.

Tunnel Consulting, the technology driven arm of Tunnel Inc., is in the final stages of completing Phase One of an international consultation and implementation project for Studio e, a mega studio/facility/media centre based in South Korea’s sixth largest city, Gwangju. Tunnel has chosen Image Systems‘ Phoenix restoration tools and Nucoda grading line to power the international project.

The Studio e facility will restore, convert, archive and manage the distribution of thousands of hours of Korean broadcast library content. Studio e will create universal masters of a vast library of film and television programs using the integrated workflow of the Phoenix and Nucoda solutions that are designed for high volume. Click 3X Teams With CBS Sports for the U.S. Open


When CBS Sports wanted to create an exciting new graphic package for the 2011 U.S. Open, they teamed up with Manhattan-based Click 3X, a full-service creative group specializing in on-air promotion and network branding.

Click 3X was tasked with essentially revamping and rebooting the entire package of elements that the network had been using for the past five years in conjunction with this annual event, the fourth and final part of the tennis season’s Grand Slam (which includes the Australian and French Opens and Wimbledon).

CBS Creative Director, Pete Radovich, had this to say about his experience working with Click 3X: “Having been through this process countless times, I can honestly say that the experience with Click 3X was one of the more pleasurable and pain-free projects I have ever been a part of.”
