Big name, big stage, big production – that’s the core of an inspired projection performance that ThinkBreatheLive (TBL), formerly known as Breathe, just pulled off to create a dazzling backdrop for Beyonce’s performance of her latest single “Run the World (Girls)” at the Billboard Music Awards. Led by their top team of EP Kenny Pedini, Senior Editor Andy Jennison, and Editor/Visual Effects 3D Artist Ian Mayer, TBL perfectly executed the project, which was exactly the sort of large-scale production they have built the company to specialize in.
“The marketplace is literally begging for companies capable of pulling off large and complex projects as millions of people watch,” stated Pedini. “We’re one of the few that can do literally everything required to pull off something of this scale, from corralling the talent to nailing all technical aspects.”

WAYNE, NJ - JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced that KRNV, the NBC affiliate serving Reno, Nev. (DMA #108), has purchased 14 GY-HM790U ProHD cameras for ENG and creative services applications. The cameras arrived at the station in April, and most have already been deployed in the field.
Jeff Deitch, KRNV chief photographer, said each shooter has two 32GB SDHC media cards, which provide more than enough storage for a normal news day. Paired with an interchangeable Fujinon 17x lens, the GY-HM790U is well equipped for one-man-band ENG work. Specifically, he said the lightweight camera’s 4.3-inch flip-out LCD monitor makes it easier for reporters to shoot stand-ups on their own.

To accommodate the needs of increasing numbers of people seeking fiber-optic solutions, High Resolution Engineering has announced that it has designed DVI over fiber video extension kits to support Lightware USA’s DVI-OPT series of transmitters and receivers. The kits, available for sale or rent from High Resolution Engineering, will be showcased at InfoComm 2011, June 15-17 in Orlando.
The company also offers another fiber-optical solution: exclusive rental of Lightware’s 80×80 Multi-Format DVI/Fiber matrix, which converts the video signal internally in the matrix and eliminates the need for extra DVI-to-fiber converters.
“With the rising costs of copper and falling prices of fiber it makes economical sense to go with fiber today,” says Mike Taylor, Partner with High Resolution Engineering. “Fiber also gives users the added functionality of incredibly long cable runs.”
