XL Video Supplies David Guetta tour

XL Video supplied 119 panels of Pixled F-30 LED screen – totalling 114 square metres of surface area – plus crew for leading DJ and music producer David Guetta’s recent phenomenal UK tour – his first carrying a full technical production.
The F-30 was specified by Guetta’s show/visuals designer and vibe engineer Ben Brett, who has developed a very cool piece of control software – Pilot – which is used to run the screen visuals. more

Robe Lights ‘La Grace’ with Style

Robe lighting was invited by the Czech Consulate in Athens, Greece, to create a special lighting scheme for the official launch of “La Grace”, a replica of the famous 17th century corsair (pirate) ship captained by Czech seafarer Augustin He?man, which took place in the exclusive and picturesque harbour at Flisvos Marina, Athens.
The vessel has been lovingly recreated by a group of Czech enthusiasts in a shipyard in Suez, Egypt, which still uses historic and traditional building methods. The pre-planning and research for the project took 3 years and the actual construction process another 2 years. The new La Grace will serve a multi-functional international role as a sea cadet training facility and as a tourist attraction worldwide. more

Nice Shoes Helps Timex Reposition Nautica and Ecko Unlimited Brand Watches


Nice Shoes has made a foray into re-branding with an in-store film and two spots for Timex that made their premier Baselworld 2011, the World Watch Jewelery Show in Switzerland. The New York-based creative post studio has been working direct-to-client over three months to help creatively reposition two of the watch giant’s brands, Nautica and Ecko Unlimited.

Each piece uses a mix of CG, motion graphics and live action to showcase the watches’ unique detailing and inner workings in a newly re-positioned context; Nautica retained its sporty lifestyle look but elevated with a sophisticated and timeless all-American feel, while Ecko Unlimited moved away from luxury glam to a sleek, hard-edged tech vibe.

Kodak Presents Filmmaking Seminars at Cine Gear Expo June 3-4; Panelists include Bailey, Bowman, Morgenthau, Papamichael, Sebaldt, Schaefer, Schneider, Steelberg and Strasburg

Kodak will present a series of panel discussions at the 2011 Cine Gear Expo here on the Paramount Pictures Studios lot on June 3 and 4. Topics range from the creative and philosophical decisions behind acclaimed television programs such as Boardwalk Empire, Castle, CSI, and Treme, to an in-depth conversation with master cinematographer John Bailey, and a discussion with some of today’s top creative minds on the artistic and budgetary considerations made when choosing one of the many film formats available.

All of the seminars are free with admission to Cine Gear Expo. Advanced registration for the Expo can be done at no charge online at www.cinegearexpo.com until May 28, and then it will cost $20.

Les Cinémas Ciné Entreprise, Quebec’s leading independent movie chain, has purchased 24 new Christie® CP2000 Series projectors. They will be installed over the next year, making the chain one of the first in Quebec to go 100 percent digital. The company is the first independent exhibitor in Canada to purchase the Christie 4K projection solution.

With more than 50 screens in Quebec, Ciné Entreprise is one of the province’s oldest chains. It specializes in presenting original French-language productions from both Quebec and international studios.
