Sycamore, Illinois-based Upstaging, Inc. has purchased a large complement of Clay Paky moving lights from A.C.T Lighting, the distributor of Clay Paky fixtures in North America.

Upstaging has set the scene for theatrical lighting and equipment trucking since 1972 with its production services, event coordination and mobile marketing impacting events worldwide. The new Clay Paky moving lights supplement Upstaging’s extensive inventory deployed for touring artists.

“As with most of our gear, we bought the Clay Paky fixtures because demand for them was client-driven,” says Upstaging’s Jerry Swatek. “Lighting designers are asking for Clay Paky, and we wanted to be able to meet their needs.”

This successful short-film competition is aimed at directors from all over the world, who want to present their films to a highly prominent jury – whilst supporting a good cause at the same time. Contestants are asked to craft a short movie on the topic “compassion�. The works will be judged by a jury of advertising industry super stars, including Mark Tutsell (Leo Burnett), Jake Scott (RSA), Olivier Altman (Publicis), Steffen Gentis (BBDO Proximity), Ringan Ledwidge (Rattling Stick), Mike Clear (2010 Winner/Mother), Wolf Jaiser and Sandy Watson Scott (The FireFlies). Todd Miller

Providing sound reinforcement for a star-studded event featuring some of the biggest names in rock and roll, Red Hook, New York-based Firehouse Productions supplied Crown I-Tech HD Amplifiers and JBL VERTEC® line array loudspeakers for the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony, staged on March 14, 2011 at the famed Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

The event featured performances by some of the inductees including Bruce Springsteen, Judy Collins, John Mayer, and Elton John. Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Dr. John, Neil Diamond, and Darlene Love were also among those inducted at the ceremony. All inductees are ultimately enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, which exists to educate its audiences on the global impact of the rock and roll art form.

Ensuring that Puerto Rico’s annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was once again a success, leading audio supply company Ricky’s Audio Corporation recently deployed HARMAN JBL VerTec® and VRX line array systems. The event was held at the Coliseum of Puerto Rico in San Juan to benefit and raise awareness for breast cancer research. The audio system supported a talented lineup of musical artists, entertaining more than 15,000 participants walking and running to celebrate and remember those affected by the illness.

The main stage featured 22 JBL VerTec VT4888DP midsize powered line array elements equipped with JBL DrivePack® technology, supplying clarity and high output from four separate array locations arranged to cover 270 degrees around the stage.
