CINEMA AUDIO SOCIETY ANNOUNCES PRESENTERS
The Cinema Audio Society announced today that Tom Hooper, director of The King’s Speech will be presenting, together with Re-recording Mixer Scott Millan, CAS, the CAS Filmmaker Award to Taylor Hackford, President of the Directors Guild of America. In making the announcement, CAS President Edward L. Moskowitz had this to say, “We are thrilled to have Tom Hooper as part of the CAS Awards. The CAS honored his mini-series John Adams with a win for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for a Television Movie or Mini-Series and with his recent win at the DGA Awards, it seems fitting that he be part of the presentation to honor Taylor�.
Also announced was Academy Award® winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler, ASC (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Bound for Glory) who will be part of the honors for his son, Jeffrey S. Wexler, CAS, who is receiving the highest accolade of the organization, the CAS Career Achievement Award. He will be presenting with CAS Sound Mixer Tomlinson Holman.
Among the celebrity presenters for the nominated categories will be: Jack McGee (The Fighter, currently filming Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve, and the upcoming Moneyball ), Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould (Modern Family), Keith David (Coraline, Crash, Platoon, The Cape and the CAS Nominated, Baseball: The Tenth Inning – Bottom of the Tenth), Marisa Ramirez (Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Against the Wall), Marina Sirtis (Crash, and previous CAS Winning Series Star Trek: Next Generation), Bai Ling (Love Ranch, The Crow, Anna and the King). These presenters will join with R.D. Floyd, John Coffey, Frank Morrone, Phillip W. Palmer, Tom Fleischman, Lee Orloff and Paul N.J. Ottoson, the CAS Sound Mixer presenters for the evening.
Moskowitz also announced that after this year’s Awards Dinner, the CAS would have a private after party. “After years of crowding into the hotel bar to continue the celebration of the evening, we are transforming the cocktail area into a more intimate setting that is conducive to continuing conversations, offering congratulations to the winners and extending the evening’s festivities�.
The Awards will be held Saturday, February 19 in the Crystal Ballroom of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
