CINEMA AUDIO SOCIETY ANNOUNCES TECHNICAL NOMINEES

Los Angeles — The Cinema Audio Society announced the nominees for the 7th Annual CAS Technical Achievement Awards for Production and Post-Production. Board President, Edward L. Moskowitz, CAS made the announcement after a Blue Ribbon panel met to determine this year’s nominees.

Winners will be announced at the 47th Annual CAS Awards dinner on February 19th at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in the Crystal Ballroom. During this Awards Dinner the highest honor of the CAS – the CAS Career Achievement Award will be presented to Production Sound Mixer Jeffrey S. Wexler, CAS and the CAS Filmmaker Award will be presented to director and President of the Directors Guild of America, Taylor Hackford. KTLA Entertainment Reporter Sam Rubin will be returning as the Master of Ceremonies. CAS Awards will also be present for Outstanding Sound Mixing in five categories and those nominees have been previously announced.

CINEMA AUDIO SOCIETY ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD

Los Angeles, 15 February 2011— President Edward L. Moskowitz, CAS announced the results of the 2011 Board of Directors elections for the Cinema Audio Society. With an amazing breadth and depth of experience in the field of sound the new board represents some of the most accomplished and experienced sound professionals in the industry. The CAS Officers are: newly elected Board President – David E. Fluhr, CAS; returning Vice-President – John Coffey, CAS; newly elected Treasurer – Peter R. Damski, CAS and returning Secretary – David J. Bondelevitch, CAS.

The Cinema Audio Society announced today that Tom Hooper, director of The King’s Speech will be presenting, together with Re-recording Mixer Scott Millan, CAS, the CAS Filmmaker Award to Taylor Hackford, President of the Directors Guild of America. In making the announcement, CAS President Edward L. Moskowitz had this to say, “We are thrilled to have Tom Hooper as part of the CAS Awards. The CAS honored his mini-series John Adams with a win for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for a Television Movie or Mini-Series and with his recent win at the DGA Awards, it seems fitting that he be part of the presentation to honor Taylor�.
