Avatar, the breakthrough stereoscopic 3D feature film from James Cameron and Twentieth Century Fox opened on December 18, 2009 with a record breaking opening weekend of over $77 million for any 3D movie, and grossing over $1 billion worldwide since then. The film features lushly detailed scenes and an extensive cast of virtual characters set in computer generated (CG) environments. more

Sound effects and royalty free music library SFXsource.com recently added the entire Blastwave collection to their offerings as single downloads. While the Blastwave sound effects collections are available elsewhere on the net, SFXsource.com’s approach to cataloging the massive collections is entirely unique, “We spent innumerable hours combing through all 30,000 separate sound files and conforming them to our unique 650 sub-categories of sounds. Not only did we physically assign each sound to a particular category in our library, we also generated user-friendly titles for each one. While other sites offer the Blastwave collection as single downloads, they are often thrown into only a handful of categories, often simply named by a non-descriptive sku or unhelpful title,” says Adam A. Rhino Creative Director Natasha Saenko crafted a unique cast of animated animals from scratch in stylized CG for the largest Russian telecommunications company Beeline. The prominent company sought out Rhino to develop a completely original concept, impressed by the studio’s extensive animation and photorealistic VFX, specifically a recent series of Kleenex webisodes directed by Harry Dorrington. Saenko’s fluency in creating and animating, a completely original cast of Russian-speaking characters in a :40 spot dominated by music is typical of the flexibility, diversity and versatility that defines Rhino. more

Primarily a design-build firm, Electro Acoustics works with architects and clients to provide turnkey audio, video, acoustics, lighting and control systems. more

In May 2009, Milton Keynes, UK based video control solutions specialist SNP Productions supplied leading video rental house Creative Technology with 2 x Catalyst v4 PRO media servers, complete with 250 Gb solid state hard drives for the Pet Shop Boys’ “Pandemoniumâ€? world tour – for which CT was the video contractor.

The Catalysts were housed in one of SNP’s unique Catalyst System flight-cases. In addition to their new Catalyst servers, CT supplied 6 x Barco 20K HD projectors and all necessary cabling/distro, which were overlaid to produce one bright image for film projections onto the spectacular stage set designed by Es Devlin. more
