Film’s Sole VFX Supplier, Studio Delivers 100 Shots Including 3D Village and Panoramic 3D Matte Paintings
LOS ANGELES—Luma Pictures was the sole visual effects provider for Focus Features’ A Serious Man, the new film from Academy Award-winners Joel and Ethan Coen, opening in select cities beginning October 2nd and expanding throughout October. Luma delivered nearly 100 shots for the film, its third project with the Coen Brothers; the studio produced more than 60 visual effects shots for the Coens’ 2007 movie ’ No Country for Old Men, which won the Best Picture Oscar, and also contributed to their 2008 hit Burn After Reading. more

Renowned freelance film editor, Richard Mettler has joined London and New York post house, Peepshow Post Productions.

Born and raised in Paris, Richard has immersed himself in pop culture, art and music from young age, working as a musician and a record producer. He moved to New York in 1994 where he first collaborated with recording studios and further developed new business ventures within the film and advertising industries. It was Richard’s vocation for sound and interest in film and visuals that sparked his passion for the art of film editing resulting in a successful and vibrant editing career. more

On October 9th 2009, a group of film directors, film production and advertising executives will set off on their bikes for a six-day cycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles in the inaugural “Fireflies West” ride. A sister-ride to the annual 1000 KM event in the French Alps, Fireflies West hopes to raise event awareness with the goal of fundraising for the Leukemia charity, Leuka (http://www.leuka.org.uk). more

Bright Systems, Inc., developer of disk recording and data infrastructure technology, has announced that The Gate, Lebanon’s principal post facility, has purchased a BrightDrive media recording system. The Gate will use the new system to provide the data infrastructure for its extended range of post-production services, which includes a new end-to-end DI workflow. more
