The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has awarded Damon Trotta for his work on History Channel’s 102 Minutes That Changed America, a two-hour documentary special about the events of 9/11. Recognized for his “Outstanding Re-Recording Mixer For Nonfiction Programming,� this is Trotta’s first Emmy. more

In a unique installation that provides a comprehensive audio network, the Kosta Boda Hotel in Sweden has deployed a BSS Audio Soundweb London system for audio processing and distribution. Opened in June, the hotel is the first constructed entirely of glass and is located in the province of Småland, in the south of the country. The hotel also contains a spa, restaurants, a glass bar and a conference center. The system’s design was developed by Swedish Harman distributor Septon Electronics AB. more

In a fixed installation that provides a highly advanced and versatile sound reinforcement system, Swedish soccer stadium Idrottsparken has been retrofitted with a Harman system that includes components from BSS Audio, Crown, and JBL. Home to Sweden’s IFK Norrköping soccer club, the stadium was constructed in 1903 and underwent a major renovation beginning in 2007 that was just recently completed this year. The installation was completed by audio contractor Musikservice AB, with the system design developed by Swedish Harman distributor Septon Electronics AB. more

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – September 14, 2009 – Dalet Digital Media Systems is pleased to announce that they have won, along with EVS and RTBF, the IBC (International Association of Broadcasters) Innovation Award 2009 for the Content Management category. Dalet was shortlisted for the award together with technology partner EVS back in June of 2009 for their involvement with the Belgium public broadcaster Radio Télévision Belge Francophone (RTBF) NUMPROD project. Both Dalet and EVS provided RTBF with a highly flexible and scalable tapeless workflow facilitating the production needs for a wide range of RTBF resources across both news and programs/sports production operations. more

Scharff Weisberg Lighting has recently taken delivery of a large quantity of Coemar Infinity Wash XL automated fixtures from Inner Circle Distribution (Sunrise, FL).

Immediately after delivery they were provided to LD Tom Kenny for the MTV 2009 Video Music Awards broadcast live, September 13th from Radio City Music Hall. “The Inifinity Wash is a favorite of Tom’s” cites Scharff Weisberg Lighting senior project manager John Healy. “They’re different from anything we currently have in stock. It’s a wash light with a very bright, very long throw and a beam effect wheel that designers use to put texture on scenery and do myriad other dynamic beam effects.” more

Santa Monica, CA, September 16, 2009 – In conjunction with the upcoming 40th Anniversary of its original release (Oct 12, 1969) as a track on King Crimson’s first album, entitled “In the Court of the Crimson King,� the iconic rock anthem “21st Century Schizoid Man� has been re-recorded and re-released by “The Human Experimente,� a multi-faceted project based in Santa Monica, CA. “The Human Experimente� has been founded by Emmy Award winning musician/composer/executive producer Jeffrey Fayman, and also includes as guest artists original “King Crimson� guitarist and founder Robert Fripp and vocalist Maynard Keenan of “Tool� and “Puscifer.� Fayman made the announcements. more
