(Brooklyn, NY)–In the hit movie, “Julie & Julia,” written and directed by Nora Ephron, Brainstorm Digital provided the movie’s visual effects, bringing to life both the cityscapes of Paris in 1949 for Julia Child’s (Meryl Streep) early scenes, as well as downtown New York in 2002. But it was a shot of New York City’s Ground Zero–a key visual to establish Julie Powell’s (Amy Adams) work for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation in a post 9/11 world–that gave the Brainstorm team an opportunity to test their newly streamlined 2.5D production environment. more

It’s the fifth consecutive year that the company has been involved in this high profile event, and the second year that the projection canvas has been increased from 60 to 90 metres wide – following the great success of the widescreen style last year. Prime Focus VFX—formerly Frantic Films VFX—announced that it has contributed 124 visual effects shots for the Stephen Sommers-directed movie “G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra� from Paramount Pictures. Prime Focus’ Los Angeles, Winnipeg and Vancouver visual effects studios most notably provided expertise in previz, digital environments, fluid simulation and high-volume particle rendering for the movie’s action-packed finale sequence involving a complicated aerial scene. “G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra� starring Channing Tatum (Duke), Sienna Miller (Baroness) Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), and Rachel Nichols (Scarlett) premiered in theaters on August 7, 2009. more

Andy McGraw was offered a sporting chance and victoriously delivered a complex edit for this new ANTA Sport commercial directed by David Edwards of HANraHAN for JWT Shanghai.

The commercial features a stylized match between two top world ranked female tennis players. It was shot on two continents; in Malaga, Spain where Jelena Jancovic was playing in a tournament and Beijing, China where Zheng Jie was busy training. In Shanghai Andy McGraw then united the players via the magic of editing, with post and effects created and applied in Hong Kong. more
