Blackmagic Design Announces Blackmagic UltraScope Waveform Monitoring: The world’s first PC based 3 Gb/s SDI and optical fiber SDI scopes designed for editors and colorists with true broadcast engineering technical accuracy.

NAB 2009, Las Vegas, NV, USA – April 20, 2009 – Blackmagic Design Inc. today announced Blackmagic UltraScope, the world’s first PC based waveform monitor with features designed for creative professionals that includes both SDI and optical fiber SDI inputs for only US$695.

Blackmagic UltraScope is on display at NAB 2009 at the Blackmagic Design booth SL10820.

Blackmagic UltraScope is a combination PCI Express card and software package designed to work in a low cost PC with 24 inch monitor for display. The large 24 inch monitor allows simultaneous display of 6 waveform views including: RGB/YUV parade display, composite waveform, vector, histogram, 8 channel audio meters, stereo audio scope and picture view. Blackmagic UltraScope is technically accurate which is perfect for master monitoring and quality control tasks.

The 6 scopes all update at the same time and are grouped within an elegantly designed user interface that creative professionals will enjoy using. Blackmagic Ultrascope is like having 6 independent waveform monitors combined into the one product.

“Most of my friends in post production have been asking for a product like Blackmagic UltraScope for a long time. Current waveform monitor products are incredibly expensive, look ugly, and are often not technically accurate. With UltraScope, we have worked very hard to change that, said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. “Now it’s possible to afford professional video scopes that look great plus are technically accurate. I think editors, quality control specialists, colorists and engineers will really enjoy using UltraScope!

Blackmagic UltraScope auto detects between SD, HD and 3 Gb/s HD-SDI video standards. UltraScope also automatically selects between regular SDI and optical fiber SDI inputs.

Blackmagic Design has introduced 4 new products this NAB that include built in optical fiber SDI technology. This eliminates expensive converters between SDI and optical fiber, and for the first time allows native optical fiber studios to be built affordably.

Availability
Blackmagic UltraScope will ship in June from Blackmagic Design resellers for US$695 or €535.
