SMNY and JWT Live Notoriously With Jose Cuervo

Sean Broughton of Smoke & Mirrors New York (SMNY) leads a team of artists in a humorous four spot campaign for Jose Cuervo, via JWT. Each spot is a sarcastically approached lesson in Living Notoriously Well with Jose Cuervo, all enclosed in an extravagantly ornamented, bound tomb.

Serving as the example for the notoriously living, an attractive baller-type impresses his friends simply by reaping the benefits of a false title-senator-in the :30 Be Yourself, a vital lesson. more

89 Edit and RSA Help Pink Get Sober

The Brief:

RSA director Jonas Akerlund and 89 Edit’s Chris Davis delve deep into Pink’s inner-struggle to find her identity in the most recent video effort for Sober, from her newly released album, Funhouse.

The video starts out at a raging party in Stockholm featuring two versions of our hero Pink. One lives the rock star life, while the other watches the night unfold completely sober. We see her alone in a white padded room, dressed entirely in white. The landscape quickly changes to a scene in a ominous wood with transparent red images of Pink being rapidly projected onto the background of trees. All along the journey, Pink tries to find herself, as her identities constantly morph and intertwine. Akerlund’s clever use of in-camera mastery and Davis’ cutting prowess present a convincing interaction between the two Pinks, revealing each personality from many different views and landscapes adding to the videos unique charm. more

Sound Lounge and Radiohead Get Aural For The Homeless

The Brief:

Sound Lounge’s Audio Engineer Jodi Levine mixes Radiohead’s haunting and sobering tones for a new PSA for the National Coalition for the Homeless via the KNARF agency.

The effort opens with a woman on an dimly lit city street throwing food into a trash can, but as the spot plays out in reverse motion, we see that she was actually eating out of the trash can and moments before crawled out of a makeshift cardboard shelter. Levine deftly melds the sounds of an abandoned cityscape and gritty sound effects in perfect accord with the Radiohead track MK1, from the In Rainbows album, which the alternative rock band donated free of charge upon seeing the PSA. more
