NVIDIA Corporation today announced its full support for the newly released OpenCL 1.0 specification from the Khronos Group. OpenCL (Open Computing Language) is a new compute API that allows developers to harness the massive parallel computing power of the GPU. NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Jack White and his band The Raconteurs were joined in the studio by 13-time Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs and country singer/songwriter Ashley Monroe to re-record a bluegrass-inspired version of the bands newest single “Old Enough,” from their “Consolers Of the Lonely” album. The joyous bluegrass inspired version, “Old Enough Liveâ€?, was released digitally, by Third Man/Warner Bros., exclusively through Amazon.com on December 2, 2008 (the same day the video for the tune is set to premiere), followed with a wide digital release and CD issue on December 9, 2008. Vinyl fiends will have to wait until December 16 for the single to hit 7″. more

Director Harry Cocciolo of bicoastal Tool delivers a sobering dose of deftly directed humor in the latest campaign for the U.S. Department of Transportation from the Ad Council via the Mullen agency that puts the spotlight on “buzzed” driving.

In two :30 spots we find our buzzed drivers and injured passengers en route to a hospital or in an emergency room as EMTs and hospital staff fight to save their lives. When our tipsy drivers expressed disbelief at what’s happening, that they were just “buzzed” the EMTs, hospital staff and hurt passengers all take pause. “Oh you were just buzzed? In that case everything’s going to be fine.” Before our distraught drivers can breathe sighs of relief, they are brought back to reality. It’s not going to be fine. Buzzed driving is every bit as deadly as drunk driving. more

Sound Lounge Music & Sound Design (SLMSD) composer Tim Kvasnosky, of musical group Home & Garden recently released, Domesticated via OM Records. The new LP has garnered positive reactions from both fans and critics. Tim K, along with his band member, wrote, composed and performed the music on the album which features a hypnotic blend of techno beats behind melodic R&B harmonies and lyrics. Music and Culture trade XLR8R commented on the album, “Each track of the release is crafted with painstaking skill.” The process involved a fusion of musical theory and mixing skill, starting with a solid core of piano and guitar before implementing the melodies and lyrics to the individual tracks. more

We then presume a woman hopes to reward herself with a new house, until her shaggy pooch Rufus stumbles through the doggy door. Closing on the final notes of the spot’s jazzy score, the canine shows off his digs as the VO urges us to chase our reward. more
