Technicolor, the Services division of Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE: TMS), today announced that digital colorist Tim Stipan has completed digital color-grading chores for director Steven Soderbergh’s twin Che Guevara theatrical features – The Argentine, and Guerilla. The films will premiere at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival on May 21st. Five different Technicolor facilities worked on Mr. Soderbergh’s films – highlighted by the deployment of a new workflow featuring Technicolor color-science to “translateâ€? the films’ original photography on the Red ONE digital camera to both digital cinema and traditional celluloid release printing. more

DETROIT—With A Twist Studio cemented its reputation for an uncanny ability to recreate real-life phenomena in CGI through its work on a new spot for Quikrete. The visual effects studio teamed with animation house Digital Kitchen and Atlanta agency Fitzgerald + Co on a spot that follows the company’s new mascot, Johnny Quikrete, as he strolls through a town sowing—not apple seeds—but rather sidewalks, bridges, flower pots and other things made from concrete. more

VENICE, CA— Ashley Bartell has joined audio post house Ravenswork as Director of Operations. The move marks a return for Bartell, who began her career with the company as a scheduler. Most recently, she served as the West Coast sales representative for The Lodge, a NY/Venice based music production company. In her new role, Bartell will oversee day-to-day operations, including scheduling, client relations and administration. She will also head the studio’s marketing effort. more

LOS ANGELES—Returning to the place where he began his career, director Scotty Bergstein has signed with STORY for exclusive, national representation in commercials. Bergstein signed his first directing contract a decade ago with STORY affiliate The Joneses and has been directing for the past year through FM Rocks, where his most recent project was a campaign for Ameriquest and DDB, Los Angeles. He has already completed his first project for STORY, a pair of spots for Texas-based restaurant chain Dave & Buster’s via Dallas agency Slinghot. more
