ABOUT “LIFE AFTER PEOPLE:
On behalf of client Flight 33 Productions, Eden FX designed and produced over 30 digital FX shots for the upcoming History Channel TV special presentation “Life After People. This included “digitally destroying a number of world famous icons, either through the use of extensive matte paintings or by digitally depicting elaborate aging, collapsing and deteriorating scenes. These “destroyed icons include the Sears Tower, Seattle’s Space Needle, Hoover Dam, Buckingham Palace, the Lincoln Memorial, the Arc de Triomphe, New York City and Chicago, among others.
Mr. Gross said, “This was the first time we had to digitally illustrate, in a highly artistic fashion, the destruction and decay of numerous renowned locales. In so doing, we developed a new approach to time lapse photography, which we utilized for a number of shots, including the aging of a cornfield as it grows, withers and rots away, a car decaying over 80 years, and even the Hoover Dam crumbling and spilling out a massive amount of water. This was a challenging, and certainly different, project for us, which we delivered with a very fast turn-around.
Airing on The History Channel at 9 PM on Jan 21, the premise for “Life After People explores the tantalizing question of whether all the remnants of mankind will eventually disappear from our planet. For more info, please see: http://www.history.com/minisites/life_after_people
