Reno, Nevada, USA, August 31, 2007, www.4bright.com: Bright Systems, Inc., developer of disk recording and data infrastructure technology, has announced completion of a new data-centric commercials post-production workflow at BEAN in Sydney, Australia‘s newest digital post facility. The installation features tight integration between Bright‘s BrightDrive shareable media store, and two daVinci‘s Resolve® digital mastering suites enabling BEAN to seamlessly share media files across networks and simultaneously perform a range of finishing processes on the same media within a fast, flexible and highly reliable digital environment.
Set up by leading colorists, Ben Eagleton and Andrew Clarkson, BEAN was launched in June 2007 as Australia‘s first purpose-built digital grading facility. The new facility offers a complete color grading service centered on a real-time HD RGB 4:4:4 10bit workflow, with the ability to deal with any resolution from standard definition through to 4K data. The daVinci/Bright solution provides a comprehensive set of state-of-the art nonlinear tools and real-time sharing of content between multiple operators without the need to copy files between workstations.
“Resolve and BrightDrive work together with total interoperability which enables us to achieve a very high level of efficiency and performance,” said Andrew Clarkson, BEAN. “Using BrightDrive‘s powerful media sharing technology integrated with Resolve‘s superior image enhancement technology and conform tools, we are able to provide our clients with a full range of first-class digital mastering services and unsurpassed flexibility. Customers can easily explore creative ideas to ensure their finished products reflect the required look and feel, and projects are finished within budget and with the highest picture quality.”
Peter Lambert, VP worldwide sales, Bright System, Inc., commented, “Bright and da Vinci continue to provide solutions that give our mutual customers the tools with which they can achieve maximum productivity coupled with superior quality.”
BEAN will use BrightDrive to provide the digital infrastructure for media files to be shared between two Resolve systems, giving operators the ability to see the latest versions of each other‘s work at any time as required. Resolve‘s open architecture and its tight integration with BrightDrive mean that all operators can access Resolve files direct from BrightDrive‘s shareable media workspaces. This provides a fast and flexible method of working as it eliminates the time-consuming tasks of downloading files from proprietary direct attached storage (DAS) and transferring data between workstations. If a client needs to change a particular visual effect for example, there is no need to reload data. Workflow is greatly accelerated and customers benefit from a highly flexible and creative service.
BrightDrive is installed at a number of facilities in Australia including Digital Pictures, The Lab and Animal Logic. BEAN‘s BrightDrive was supplied and will be supported by Future Reality, Bright Systems‘ business partner in Australia.
