New York City, NY, July 20, 2007 – Two of the founders of newly formed Thornberg & Forester make their directorial debut in new, humor-driven live action promotional campaigns for two TBS comedies. These shows are the recently premiered “The Bill Engvall Show,” which features Engvall along with comedians Nancy Travis, Tim Meadows and Steve Hytner (from “Seinfeld,”) and the returning sitcom, “My Boys.” Both campaigns were written, shot, designed and edited by the directing duo of T&F founders Justin Meredith and Scott Matz.
For “The Bill Engvall Show” promos, the T&F directing team captures the charismatic wit and spirit of the show with scripted and improv performances from this celebrity cast. Note: To view selected promos from “The Bill Engvall Show,” please visit:
For the second campaign, Thornberg & Forester‘s Meredith and Matz spotlight a raucous group of friends in “My Boys,” a sitcom in which female sports columnist P.J. Franklin takes center stage in a series of well choreographed happy hour antics. The new season of “My Boys” premieres July 30th. To view selected promos from “My Boys,” please visit:
Shot on CBS and Paramount stages In Los Angeles, both “The Bill Engvall Show” and the “My Boys” promo campaigns succeed in capturing the personality of these witty, real life sitcoms. Comedy is Thornberg & Forester‘s priority, and the duo embraced this opportunity to design sets and stories that cast a spell and conveyed the sense of exuberance and hilarity inherent within the programs. With action packed days and limited time available for working directly with the talent, the directing team worked at a frantic pace and frequently started their days with double breakfast orders to fuel their charge.
Regarding the two campaigns, Kate Bulmer, Graphics Production Manager for TBS, stated, “Thornberg & Forester were great to work with and the projects as a whole are a huge success for us here at the network.”
Added Matz and Meredith, “We wanted to make people laugh without deviating too far from the premise of the shows. In ‘My Boys,‘ we harnessed both drama and comedy without those emotions feeling too forced. We wanted to give TBS something that elevated the brands and created a slice of life experience for the viewer.”
