HANABI HVS-3800HS Chosen for its Power, Compact Design and Reliability

STUDIO CITY, CA, June 12, 2007 – Cahuenga Rue Productions, the concert production company handling famed rocker Rod Stewart‘s 2007 World Tour, has selected the HVS-3800HS from the FOR-A line of SD/HD Hanabi switchers. The HVS-3800HS is being used during the show for image magnification onto four Barco projection screens and to record the show for archive purposes. The HVS-3800HS supports standard definition and high definition formats, including variations of 1080i and 720P. more

The Hartwall Arena, Finland’s largest ice hockey arena, was chosen to host the biggest live TV-show in Europe – the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. A record number of 42 countries participated in Helsinki. Lighting and screen designer Mikki Kunttu presented to the estimated 100 million viewers on TV a visual voyage into mythology as well as rock and pop culture: “My goal was to create an exciting, powerful and organic show architecture based on LED screens and moving lights. As the physical set was based on ideas originating from Finnish mythology, it actually was general enough to give me a lot of freedom to create my own ‘show mythology‘, if you like, outside of that,” said Kunttu. To control about 430 moving lights, consisting mostly of Robe moving lights and a few VL3500Q spots, and nearly 400 square meters of LEDs 10 x grandMA full-size, 2 x grandMA light and 20 x MA NSPs, including backups, were used. “The grandMA system worked like a clock,” commented Kunttu. more

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) has taken delivery of Look Solutions‘ Unique2 Hazer from dealer Barbizon Light of the Rockies. The haze machine requires minimal warm up time and operates with minimal noise. It produces a variable output from the finest mist to a thick haze, so it is able to fill small and big rooms or halls with a constant haze, creating the right atmosphere and supporting lighting effects. more

BBC Motion Gallery, the footage-licensing arm of BBC Worldwide, announced the debut of the CBS News Online Database, an online text-based service allowing searches of over 60 years of CBS News archives. more

Project Managed by XL‘s Des Fallon, the UK‘s busiest live music video company deployed 20 crew to site on the Thursday to be ready for Saturday morning. The video site build was co-ordinated by crew chief Carl Martin, and the XL team worked closely with lighting suppliers Lite Alternative. more

South Norwalk, CT–Palace Digital Studios handled the final audio mix and sweetening, legalizing and color correction for the four-part series “Quintessential,” airing on The Learning Channel. A preview of the first episode aired May 21. The entire series is scheduled for broadcast late in 2007, airing over four consecutive weeks.
