wondertouch releases new Universal Binary Version of particleIlusion 3.0 for Mac OS X

wondertouch™ www.wondertouch.com announces today the immediate availability of a Universal Binary version of particleIllusion™ 3.0 for Mac® OS® X, its award-winning particle effects application. particleIllusion 3.0.5 is a free update that runs natively on both Intel- and Power PC-based Mac computers. (Full press release available here)

At NAB wondertouch (booth SL3827B) will show the new Universal Binary version of particleIllusion 3.0 in addition to the entire particleIllusion(TM) line of software products, including the highly-acclaimed new Pro Emitter Libraries. Alan Lorence, president of wondertouch, answers questions about the new Universary Binary release and the company’s participation at NAB.

Q: How will the new Universal Binary benefit wondertouch customers?
Lorence: There are three main benefits to this update: speed, reliability, and batch rendering. Customers who are using Intel Macs will finally get to see particleIllusion running using the full power of their new processors, and those using PowerPC Macs will still see a 10- to – 20 percent or more speed increase over the previous version. We‘ve fixed many bugs in this release, and have added batch rendering.

Q:What have been the most exciting developments from wondertouch this year?
Lorence: Getting the Mac versions of our products updated to Universal Binaries is great, because seeing particleIllusion run full-speed on these fast machines is really fun! We‘ve also recently released three great new emitter libraries in our Pro Emitter Libraries series. The extremely creative particle emitters in these motion graphics oriented libraries shows what we always try to tell our customers: particle effects are not just for blowing things up!

Later this year we‘ll also have our After Effects plug-in version of particleIllusion released, as well as version 3.5 of particleIllusion – very exciting!

Q: We hear that some talented people will be demoing in the wondertouch booth at NAB this year? Care to comment?

Lorence: As in the past 3 or 4 years, Aharon Rabinowitz and Elvis Deane will be doing the bulk of our demos, and I‘m excited to say that Pro Emitters artist Tom Granberg will be making a few appearances in our booth at NAB as well, doing some of his emitter creation magic “live” for those who enjoy really creative graphics work.
- Aharon Rabinowitz is considered one of the most talented and skilled After Effects trainers and educator and has recently relaunched the After Effects New York user group. He‘s also an accomplished animator and principal of All Bets are Off Productions. Many DCP readers also know him as a particleIllusion Creative Cow Forum Leader and host of the extremely popular After Effects Podcast on the Cow. His expertise in using particleIllusion with After Effects is second to none.

- Tom Granberg, Sr. Technical Artist at Rainbow Studios, an early adopter of particleIllusion and beta tester to the wondertouch development team. Tom is a master at creating particleIllusion emitters, and has authored several of the Pro Emitter Libraries.

- Elvis Deane is founder of Astounding Adventures and is one of the more active members of the particleIllusion software community. He is also a preeminent animator and independent filmmaker and a leader of the Creative Cow particleIllusion forum.
