XL Video has supplied design collective United Visual Artists (UVA) with Barco O-Lite modules for their critically acclaimed interactive music installation, ‘Volume‘ at the V&A Museum, London.
The work was commissioned buy the V&A as part of the Playstation Season, and is a collaboration between UVA, Robert Del Naja (3D of Massive Attack) and his long-term co-writer Neil Davidge (as part of their music production company, one point six).

Staged in the V&A‘s John Madejski Garden, the O-Lite is arranged into 46 columns mounted on 6 x 7 grid, each column consisting of 24 O-Lite modules stacked on top of one another. These measure 2.5 metres in height by 12 centimeters wide, and the columns are placed 2 metres apart, each with a speaker on top. more

Lighting designer Ivan Morandi produced a highly inventive, fully integrated lighting and visual show for Placebo‘s recent UK and European arena tour, with video equipment and crew supplied by XL Video UK.

Morandi produced all the pre-recorded video content himself which was stored on two Catalyst v 4 digital media servers. He also wove feeds from 16 cameras into the mix – an amalgam of Toshiba mini cams and Panasonic DV cam units with remote pan and tilt heads. The two types of video sources and lighting were meshed together into a seamless and provocative collage of images and ideas. more

Italy‘s top TV lighting designer Pino Quini has specified 12 Robe DigitalSpot 5000DT moving head projectors for the popular series “Tutte Donne Tranne Me” (All Women Except Me), a one man show starring actor/singer Massimo Ranieri with special guests.

The new RAI 1 show is broadcast live from Studio 15 of Rome‘s Cine Citta complex and is on air at 9 p.m. Friday – one of the channel‘s coveted prime time TV slots.

The scenic design by Marco Calzavara includes a 360 degree white cyclorama which encases the whole studio set, including the seating stands and the stage. “It was an obvious artistic decision to make in filling this space with colour and texturing” explains Quini, but he wanted to go beyond just gobo and lighting effects ….. to moving images and photographic impressions … and so, it was the ideal time to try out Robe‘s new DigitalSpots. more
