New Range of I/O Boxes at NAB2007
At NAB2007 Calrec will launch a new range of remote I/O boxes to compliment the company’s existing modular remote I/O box. These fixed-format boxes
range from 2 RU to 4 RU in size and all have built-in PSU redundancy with single or optional dual IEC power connections.
Calrec will be showing the first two boxes from this range: the AD5603, a 2-RU analog I/O unit, and the JB5607, a 3-RU unbalanced AES I/O unit. The AD5603 consists of 24 mic/line inputs and 8 line outputs with phantom power indication on mic inputs and a tricolor signal LED indicating whether audio
is present, normal, or at clip for each input. The JB5607 consists of 32 AES inputs and 32 AES outputs on BNC connectors. The AES unit is also available as a 110-Ohm XLR-based 4-RU variant.
The boxes interface to the Calrec Hydra Network using dual Cat5e Gigabit Ethernet ports for audio and control redundancy up to 90 meters. For extended distances, the new I/O boxes also support optional duplex fiber GBIC connectors, which allow multimode fiber 50/125-micron or 62.5/125-micron operation up to 500 meters or single-mode fiber 9/125 -micron operation up to five kilometers.
Each mic box also has an optional expansion port at the rear for GPIO, communications, and serial interfaces.
