Tribeca Film Festival and ESPN Announce Creation of Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival

NEW YORK–ESPN Inc. and Tribeca Enterprises, the parent company of the Tribeca Film Festival, will launch The Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, a multi-platform showcase for independent sports films, it was announced today by John Skipper, ESPN executive vice president, content and Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca Film Festival co-founder. In a multi-year arrangement, The Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival will be programmed and operated by the Tribeca Film Festival with on-air support from ESPN, the world‘s leading sports brand. Targeted at both the film industry and sports film fans, the Festival will feature a complete program of film screenings, live events, online interactivity, and media extensions. An advisory board, comprising leaders in sports and film, is currently in formation. more

Vizrt Announces Integration Of Curious World Maps With Microsoft’s Virtual Earth

Bergen, Norway, December 7, 2006 – Vizrt has announced the complete integration between its Viz|Curious World Maps graphic mapping software and Microsoft‘s Virtual Earth platform. Virtual Earth provides for the on-demand delivery of high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery.

The graphics staff at television stations can now populate their Viz|Curious World Maps templates with aerial and natural earth images from Virtual Earth. World Maps provides broadcasters local access to the imagery stored on Microsoft‘s Internet-based Virtual Earth server. more

Cinematographer Bob Poole Captures Wildlife Imagery With Lightweight Fujinon HA25x16.BERD

KETCHUM, ID, December 7, 2006 — From the remote rainforests of Gabon in West Africa to a nature preserve in the Patagonia, director of photography Bob Poole captures pristine, high definition images for wildlife, science, sports and adventure television with Fujinon‘s HA25x16.5BERD HD ENG-Style lens mounted to a Sony F-900 HD camera. Since January of this year, Poole has flown back and forth between his home in Ketchum, Idaho and Gabon – where he is shooting wildlife footage for an upcoming National Geographic special about the preservation of 13 of the country‘s National Parks. The special, called Gabon is scheduled to air on The National Geographic Channel, BBC and NHK. more
