Digital Bolex: Stu Maschwitz Expresses His Concerns
The newly-announced Digital Bolex D16, with claims of shooting 2K raw images for a price of around $3300, could be a game-changer. Or it could be too good to be true, according to Stu Maschwitz.
He says, "After watching the well-financed and well-intentioned Red Digital Cinema company struggle to deliver on their promises, and abandon the '3K for $3K' design/price-point of their Scarlet camera, one has to wonder if these flmmakers-turned-cameramakers have any idea of the challenges they’re about to face. I wish no ill on anyone. I really want these guys to win. But there are a few things that give me pause as I consider whether to send these kids my heard-earned money."
Before you go about investing in the Digital Bolex Kickstarter campaign (funded within a day of posting, by the way), consider reading Maschwitz's full list of doubts here on his blog.
