Cintel diTTo evolution and imageMill2
If film is to remain viable, moving images from film negative to digital data needs to keep up with the latest technology. In comments prior to NAB Show 2009, Cintel says that it is doing just that. Two new products—the diTTo evolution film scanner and imageMill2 image-processing platform—prove the company can still turn out innovative gear, according to Cintel''s Business Development Manager Simon Clark.
Both are built upon previous designs but have changes for today''s production needs. The diTTo evolution scanner is now modular and field-upgradable. The imageMill2 employs a new image-processing platform, and it now has network and data-file-management capabilities.
Other diTTo evolution features include fast-shuttle capability, non-pin registration mode (for archive scanning of shrunken film original), and a dust/scratch-concealment option. Future upgrades include scanning at oversampled 4K and higher resolutions.
While imageMill will remain available for realtime SD/HD video or HSDL data workflows, the new imageMill2 will incorporate new, simpler-to-use noise- and grain-management tools for DI.
