Adobe Announces Mac Compatibility for Production Studio
In late December, Digital Content Producer spoke with Simon Hayhurst, director of product management for dynamic media at Adobe, about the company's newly announced plans to introduce Premiere Pro and the rest of the Production Studio for the Macintosh platform. Adobe's nonlinear editor has not been available for Mac users for several years, since before it was completely rewritten and gained its "Pro" appellation.
When Premiere Pro was rebuilt from the ground up, Adobe decided to make it PC-only to speed the re-architecting. Apple's introduction of Intel-based Macs last year made it easier for Adobe to port the NLE over to the Macintosh.
On Jan. 4, 2007, just in advance of next week's MacWorld, Adobe announced that Mac users can once again edit video with Premierein its Premiere Pro 2.0 incarnation, which will be released this spring. In an exclusive podcast at The Briefing Room, Hayhurst explains the how and the why of the introduction of Premiere Pro for the Mac, the inclusion of the new Soundbooth audio application in the Production Studio, and what the Production Studio offers Final Cut Pro users.
