Omneon MediaGrid Sweeps Awards at NAB2006
The new MediaGrid active storage
system from Omneon Video Networks has swept the key awards at NAB2006,
receiving an NAB AIM (Award for Innovation in Media) Award, Television
Broadcast NAB2006 Top Innovation Award, TV Technology STAR (Superior
Technology Award Recipient) Award, and Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit honor.
The NAB AIM program allows NAB show attendees to recognize pioneering
technologies that display significant advancement through boosting
efficiency, increasing user flexibility and creativity, or lowering cost.
The Omneon MediaGrid also was recognized with a 2006 STAR Award from the
editorial staff of TV Technology. The STAR Award celebrates and showcases
the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast
industry, based on editors' review of a variety of products, their
technical applications, and their overall contribution to the industry.
Products or technologies that receive the Television Broadcast Top
Innovation Award are nominated by industry professionals and selected
unanimously by the editorial team of Television Broadcast magazine. These
awards are presented in recognition of Technology Insight for the Bottom
Line, having combined innovative technical achievement with workflow and
cost efficiencies. The BE Pick Hit Awards are presented to the most
technologically innovative products that promise to have a significant
impact on the broadcast and film industries.
"We are honored to have received such extensive recognition from both NAB
attendees and from well-respected publications serving the broadcast
industry," said Geoff Stedman, Omneon vice president of worldwide
marketing. "The potential of MediaGrid to deliver affordable, powerful, and
easy-to-manage digital media storage is unique to the industry, and we look
forward to further success as the system continues to be deployed in
broadcast facilities around the world."
The first content storage system of its kind, the new MediaGrid active
storage system is designed specifically for the demands of working with
large digital media files within broadcast and video production facilities.
Combining grid storage and grid computing through the use of multiple
intelligent, interconnected-yet-independent storage servers, the new system
dramatically enhances the efficiency of digital media access for users and
applications across the entire broadcast workflow. The MediaGrid system
provides centralized shared storage that is scalable in capacity,
bandwidth, and media processing power.
