Shoot Tools — ADS Technologies

At DV Expo in Los Angeles, ADS Technologies introduced aFireWire camcorder drive priced significantly lower thanhigher-capacity offerings from competitors. Still, the company saysthat portability was the main objective in designing the Pyro DVDrive. The drive attaches to your camcorder via 1394 and captures.dv files at the push of a button on the face of the5.25"×3"×1" unit. Holding up to about an hour and 40 minutesof footage, the Pyro features a 20GB, 2.5in. IDE hard drive and theOxford 911 chipset. Computers recognize the Pyro as a lettered drive tobypass the step of software-based capture. A built-in lithium ionbattery recharges through either the FireWire bus or the included powersupply.
