Edit Tools — Final Cut Express

At Macworld in January, one of Apple's biggest announcements for thevideo world was a new prosumer edition of Final Cut Pro called FinalCut Express. The interface is the same, but that's not all —Apple says that hundreds of realtime effects and many color correctionand editing tools have also migrated from FCP. Optimized for DV, FinalCut Express integrates with iDVD and creates metadata that's compatiblewith iMovie and FCP. Some key elements missing in the Express versionof Final Cut, however, are EDL support, OMF export, visible sourcetimecode display, the ability to edit to a VCR, and support for SD/HDformats that require third-party cards.
