At IBC 2003, Aurora Video Systems debuted Aurora Pipe,
a video capture and editing card that takes advantage of Apple's RT
Extreme capabilities. The card delivers realtime preview and effects in
Final Cut Pro. As a fully compatible Quicktime device, the card needs
no software to run realtime previews in Adobe After Effects, Discreet
Combustion, or other Quicktime-based apps. And all that comes at a
reasonable price. The company claims the card allows large and
mid-sized facilities to lower their per-station costs by providing
essential I/O options for multiple editors without the added expense of
SDI and component interfaces on every station.
