Da Vinci made its name by turning out realtime color correction andgrading hardware, but now, as workstations gain in speed, the CoralSprings, Fl.-based company developed 2K Soft, its first standalonesoftware color corrector.

2K Soft provides software-based, realtime grading for digital filmlabs, visual effects facilities, digital intermediate workstations, andany other workstation environment where the images are alreadydigitized. It's capable of reading DPX and RGB files of any resolution.The product also interfaces directly with gear from Discreet, Quantel,and Thomson. The da Vinci 2K Soft system includes a Joyball Panel,similar to that used in the 2K Plus color corrector, to improveoperator comfort and efficiency. The software runs on an Intelplatform, paired with the da Vinci Powerhouse render farm andoff-the-shelf storage.
