Job Search
This seems like a good time to remind you of two unique services that may be useful right now. Our Briefing Room and Reel-Exchange are both tools to help you market yourself and take advantage of our industry reach and audience. Both help get your business in front of tens of thousands of potential customers and collaborators.
Reel-Exchange also has a job board blog. At press time, Nickelodeon is looking for a CG artist and an animation director, DreamWorks is looking for an effects animator, ABC News needs a Vizrt artist, and BET is looking for an encoding specialist.
Both The Briefing Room and Reel-Exchange are subscription services that are free to members.
The Briefing Room is a simple tool for posting press releases, case studies, tutorials, and images. It's popular with the readers; search engines like it because it's based on a blog platform and written to a formula that search engines notice. It's consistently in the top three of our most trafficked sections each month. Beyond the initial web traffic and search-engine recognition, we then distribute Briefing Room postings in various ways — in our print pages, through our enewsletters, and via RSS to relevant areas of our site and sister sites. If you're interested in finding out how to post your press releases, contact Lucy.Sutton@penton.com.
Reel-Exchange allows members to post profiles and up to four sample reels. We now have members from 76 countries and every state in the nation. Members include cinematographers, editors, visual-effects artists, directors, producers, and more. They come from across the spectrum of film and video production markets from independent contractors to Sundance filmmakers to large facilities to stock and music libraries. The service works for people looking to find collaborators, employers, employees, or contractors.
Here's an example from this month. A St. Louis facility was looking for a new editor; the recruiter posted the job, then browsed our editors' reels and noticed a Puerto Rico-based editor with a standout reel. At about the same time, this editor responded to the job posting. The facility flew the editor to St. Louis for an interview and hired him.
In addition to the professional networking Reel-Exchange offers, we also look for opportunities to single out Reel-Exchange members with great reels. For example, every week we choose a regional content creator to promote on the digitalcontentproducer.com homepage, and next month, we'll have a cover story on Kansas City members.
