Director, Engineering (New York, NY)

Director, Engineering - Provide engineering support andstrategy recommendations for existing and new distribution technologiesfor HBO. Work directly with internal departments, affiliates anddistributors. Participate in industry activities, maintain vendor andaffiliate relationships to further HBO’s business objectives.

Job Responsibilities – Develop plans and overseeimplementation of distribution strategies with distributors (e.g.,cable TV, DBS, VDSL, broadband, etc.). Evaluate new distributiontechnologies to review and make recommendations on quality and securityissues. Represent HBO on industry committees and with tradeorganizations. Responsible for cultivating first-hand relationshipswith customers, vendors and other industry constituents in order tostay abreast of developments.

Qualifications - Electrical Engineering degree required; MBApreferred; strong self-starter and strategic thinker; attention todetail and deadline-oriented performer a must. Strong background inmedia distribution technology: Cable, DBS, Broadband (networking)technologies including design, infrastructure, strategies. Minimum 7years industry background a must. Strong background in digitaltransmission technologies such as MPEG compression, streaming media,satellite transmission and reception, conditional access (DigitalRights Management) on-demand and interactive television. Workingknowledge of broadcasting: origination, program integration. Workingknowledge of software application development as it pertains tointeractive television, distribution technologies (such as headend andclient systems).
