New NEC Idol Promotion Gives VT Series Users Opportunity to Win $50,000

ITASCA, Ill.--— NEC Solutions announced its new NEC Idolpromotion in the U.S. and Canada for the new VT Series projectors,which enhance NEC's full line of intuitive projectors as theeasiest-to-use models to date. The person, company, school ororganization that purchases a new VT460, VT560 or VT660 projector andmakes a two-minute video demonstrating the projector's ease of use inthe most creative and original way will be declared the NEC Idol andwin $50,000. The top five finalists will be determined by a panel of judges atNEC, and their videos will be available for viewing on the NEC VisualSystems website beginning May 19. Between that date and June 4,visitors can vote online for their favorite video. The finalists willbe flown to Orlando, Fla., where the winner will receive a check for$50,000 in the NEC booth on June 5 during the InfoComm 2003tradeshow.

The new projectors are NEC's first to feature automatic keystonecorrection, giving classroom, meeting room and general purpose usersthe ability to turn the projector on and instantly get a squared image.Their direct-access keys for RGB, video and s-video let users switchbetween sources with the touch of a button, and color-coded inputsfurther enhance the projectors' intuitive design. And NEC's AdvancedAutoSense syncs the projector with the computer signal automatically sono additional adjustments are required.

NEC's new VT Series projectors ship in February 2003 with one of thebest price/performance mixes of any projectors to date. The 1500 ANSIlumen, SVGA resolution VT460 features an estimated street price of$1,199. The XGA resolution, 1300 ANSI lumen VT560 is priced at $1,795and the XGA, 1700 ANSI lumen VT660 is $1,995. With a replacement lampcost of only $299 and 3,000 hour lamp life in Eco-Mode, the projectorsoffer users a low total cost of projector ownership.
