Microsoft's Michael Toutonghi to Keynote NAB2002 Super Session on Enhanced TV
Michael Toutonghi, vice president, Microsoft eHome Division willexplore how universal plug and play will revolutionize home computingand entertainment at the "Enhanced TV, Interactive TV and Broadband -Welcome to the Future" Super Session, April 9 at NAB2002.
Toutonghi will examine the new technologies coming to market thatwill enable home networking and connectivity throughout the home. He'lldiscuss how the IEEE's 1394 standard enables a single plug-and-playconnection for connecting devices to PCs and how it will facilitateconsumer adoption of home networking. He will map out sample homenetwork configurations that will combine and distribute rich multimediaservices along with telephony, gaming, web access, information utility,and remote device control to every room in the home.
Toutonghi leads Microsoft's eHome Division, a newly developed groupwithin Microsoft whose mission is to extend the PC's capabilities todeliver simple and affordable connected home experiences to everydayconsumers. Since joining Microsoft in 1992, Toutonghi has held a numberof positions in the development of key Microsoft innovations. He helpedconceive, engineer and manage the Microsoft .NET Developer platform andoversaw key components for the Windows 95 operating system and InternetExplorer 3.0 and 4.0. Before joining Microsoft, Toutonghi heldpositions at Gibson Research Corp. and SOTA Technology.
Following Toutonghi's address, a panel of leading technologyexecutives will discuss key industry issues. Topics will include thefuture of interactive television, the promise of ubiquitous broadbandroll-out, and the revenue-generating potential of interactive contentboth in the domestic and international market.
