Nodance Film Festival Announces Winners

The sixth annual Nodance Film Festival, the world's firstDVD-projected film festival, announced its winning films January 22nd,2003 at their packed Main Street headquarters across from the EgyptianTheater in Park City, Utah. Nodance celebrates the best in alternativedigital film.

Making a surprise appearance at the awards ceremony, actress SalmaHayek presented the Free Spirit Award to director Mike Figgis (withwhom she worked in both Hotel and Time Code.) Both films,and the dance doc Flamenco Women, were presented at the festivalas a part of a retrospective on Figgis' career.

Top winners at the festival were:
Outpatient directed by Alec Carlin won the Grand Jury Award forBest Feature; Our House directed by Sevan Matossian won theGrand Jury Award for Best Documentary. Audience award winners wereThe War Effort directed by Bob Cesca for Favorite Feature, andThe 7th Man directed by Jason Liggett for Favorite Short.

Top winners for short films included Shadowboxer directed byVilka Tzouras and Evelyn directed by Brad Peyton. The GoldenOrbs Award for Best Marketing went to Our House and The WarEffort.

Special Recognition went to the surf epic documentary Step IntoLiquid directed by Dana Brown.

Presenting the awards were festival sponsor and actor ForestWhitaker, as well as festival director James Boyd. This marked thesixth year for the successful Park City festival.
