Envivio and Opcion Cable Enter into Agreement

, a leading provider of end-to-end broadcast and streamingsolutions, and Opcion Cable announced that they have entered into anagreement to create and distribute an end-to-end solution usingEnvivio's MPEG-4 products to provide live and video-on-demand (VOD)programming to cable operators throughout Mexico.

As part of this agreement, Opcion Cable will use Envivio as theirexclusive supplier of MPEG-4 products and services in their developmentof a hybrid cable television network referred to as the Triple Play.Triple Play broadband services include television, telephony, andinternet access, and will allow consumers to experience e-commerce,interactive VOD, educational programming, as well as telephoneservices, and broadband internet access. The solution will be marketedthrough The Mexican Association of Public Networks (AMRED), anon-profit trade association, to its more than 200 members who make upthe majority of Mexico's cable television operators.

"By partnering with Opcion Cable and AMRED we have the opportunityto introduce our MPEG-4 solutions to the decision makers of Mexico'scable industry and further extend the deployment of MPEG-4 throughoutMexico and the world," says Julien Signes, president of Envivio.

A demonstration of the Triple Play solution is being showcased atAMRED's annual conference in Cancun, Mexico October 16-18. Liveprogramming supplied via satellite feeds from Mexico City and Cancunwill be streamed to the local head end and distributed to IP-enabledset-top boxes running the EnvivioTV player.

"By integrating Envivio's MPEG-4 products into our Triple Playsolution, we offer cable operators a cost-effective way to reducebandwidth and storage costs which will allow them to deliver morechannels over the same bandwidth they are using today," says JoseGabriel Gutierrez of Opcion Cable. "In addition, we will be able toprovide advanced entertainment services to subscribers that will bringadditional revenue opportunities to the cable operators."
