Turbo Squid to Launch Community-Centric Version of its Website

Copenhagen, Denmark (Oct. 23, 2001) - Turbo Squid, the world’sfastest growing online marketplace for 3D assets, today announced thelaunch of a new community-centric version of www.turbosquid.com.The new design features program communities and puts 3D artists andTurbo Squid's online asset collection in the spotlight.

The new design of the website will enable users to browse assets byselecting the 3D software programs they use. The communities developedfor this launch include 3ds max, Poser, LightWave, Maya, Softimage/XSI,Shockwave 3D, and gmax. Each community portal features 3D artists whospecialize in developing with that tool, forums, and plug-ins, andtips. Additional features include browseable search icons toaccommodate the global user base.

Matthew Hales, Turbo Squid’s Creative Director said: "It's noweven easier for the users of different 3D software packages to focusspecifically on the models, textures, and other assets that are ofinterest to them."

Categorizing the search results by program type makes finding assetson the rapidly expanding marketplace quicker. Searching the database ineach program portal returns files that are native to that format firstand then displays all assets that can be imported or easily convertedto each program.

A new version of the PC software and a Beta version of Turbo Squidsoftware for Mac are available for free on the website. Enhancements tothe new PC software include the support of plug-ins, CG scripts,Tutorials, and Game Levels. The Mac application is a search utilitydeveloped for Mac OS X users.
