Monitors the operation of the video equipment in the field,including the quality, reliability and productive use of companyresources. Follows company wide procedures and policies for the routineand periodic maintenance of video equipment of all types. Ensuresacceptable quality control in the technical setup of the studio, mobiletruck, master control playback, editing and portable equipment.Instructs staff on technical and equipment design matters. Acts as theliaison with headend and other technical staff. Assist in developmentand design of facilities, including studios, trucks, editing systems,and playback equipment. Provides emergency logistical and manpowersupport to the operating systems. Assists with the development ofcapital budgets for video equipment and required control functionsconsistent with company goal. Participates in new and/or ongoingprojects as required by management. Provides technical recruitingsupport, as required. Functions as technical resource to management intechnical planning and decision making by maintaining a state of theart knowledge base. Able to drive production trucks to locations (ClassB CDL).
Requires a B.S./B.A. degree in Broadcasting, Electronics, orequivalent. Requires one (1) to two(2) years related work in broadcasttelevision production or electronic repair/maintenance of broadcasttelevision. Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of technicaloperations in a cable television environment. Must have a workingknowledge of video tape recorders, video cameras, video switches, timebase correctors, monitors, character generators, and assorted video andaudio production equipment. Must have the ability to set up videoproduction systems, both remote and studio. Must have basic technicaloperation knowledge of cable television headend and distributionnetwork, including switching and converter operation. Requires stronganalytical abilities, capable of making critical decisions in a highpressure environment. Requires effective oral and written communicationskills. Work schedule includes evenings, weekends and holidays. Travelrequired up to 50% of work schedule. Exposure to one or moredisagreeable or hazardous conditions 50% of work schedule.
