ENGINEER


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Other duties may be assigned.

  • The Engineer position assists the Engineering Supervisor with theinstallation, maintenance and repair of all technical equipment for thelocal news channel.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of allsystems including: automation systems, servers, router, charactergenerators, switchers, VTR’s, ENG field gear, microwavetransmission and receiver equipment.

  • Diagnose and repair equipment failures.

  • Assist in the installation of new equipment and facilities.

  • Be available by pager for on-call responsibilities.

  • Project manage, research, specify, price and recommend equipment oroperational solutions on assigned project.

  • Required to maintain and order appropriate parts inventory inconsultation with the Engineering Supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum technical school training and /or certification on specificequipment required. College degree a plus. A minimum of 2 yearstelevision equipment maintenance experience preferred. SBECertification a plus. Experience with operating and repairing variousstudio and remote newsgathering telecasting equipment, includingcomputer/server based equipment.

  • Working knowledge of routers, serial digital switchers, digitaleffects devices, character generator and graphics system equipment.

  • Knowledge of microwave, satellite and fiber systems a plus. PCexperience preferred. Operational knowledge of automation software aplus.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Ability to develop working knowledge of NT/2000 and Unix O.S.

  • Must be willing to work unscheduled hours which may include eveningsand weekends. 24/7 on-call duties may be required.
