Time Warner Cable Systems Selects nCUBE for VOD

Time Warner Cable's Southwest Division has selected nCUBE to powerits video on demand (VOD) launch in El Paso and Corpus Christi, Texas.The nation's second-largest multiple system operator (MSO) will deploynCUBE's Gigabit Ethernet transport solution to deliver VOD to more than65,000 digital subscribers in the combined markets. The southwestdivision, which includes nine operational clusters across Texas, serves500,000 customers.

The service offers digital cable customers movies and otherprogramming content when they want it with complete control over theirviewing with the ability to pause, rewind, fast-forward and play usingtheir cable television remote control. The service is scheduled tolaunch early 2003.

The El Paso and Corpus Christi systems are using nCUBE's GigabitEthernet transport solution for delivery of VOD. nCUBE's solutionincludes the n4x video server, which provides cable operators unmatchedstorage and delivery capability, storing more than 200,000 hours ofunique video content and serving up to 53,000 simultaneous streams. Then4x can support communities as small as 5,000 to more than 500,000homes with a single piece of content.
