The DVD LA Fest to Co-locate with the LA DV Show
Mindshare Ventures, Inc. and Future Media Concepts in co-operationwith B&H Photo-Video-Pro Audio have announced that The DVD LA Festwill be co-located with the LA DV Show and will be presented at theHilton Burbank Airport and Convention Center, July 28 - August 1,2002.
Rick Friedman, President and Co-founder of Mindshare Venturesstates, "This is industry's most ambitious, market-driven attempt todate to showcase and stimulate authorship and development of bothoriginal and re-purposed content that is native to the interactive,digital versatile disc platform.
We present 2 days of educational sessions, complimented withkeynotes, guest speakers, workshops, a pavilion on the expo floor, anda first ever - The 'DVD At Its Best Awards' Competition. "
DVD LA Fest executive producer Bruce Apar, formally publisher ofPost Magazine, has helped stage more DVD Awards events than anyone inthe industry, including the DVD Entertainment 2001 Conference atUniversal City Hilton, and the DVD Festival for the Video SoftwareDealers Association Home Entertainment Expo 2000 and 2001. He notedthat the DVD LA Fest is the first of its kind and is comprised of threemajor components:
1. The Technical Program Led by DVD L.A. Fest Tech Chair BruceNazarian of Gnome Digital, renowned DVD production master, and taughtby marquee DVD industry experts, the conference will comprise of twotracks of classes over two days - 13 separate workshops - DVD authoringto Web-connected DVDD to mixing multichannel 5.1 sound to Open DVD tofinding new markets for your DVD business, and much more.
2. The DVD Expo Pavilion A full-scale exhibition will be presentedat the Hilton Burbank Airport and Convention Center on Tuesday, July30, 1:00pm - 6:30pm and Wednesday, July 31, 10:00am - 7:00pm. Topindustry representatives will be on-hand to exhibit products,distribute free giveaways and participate in free social and networkingevents.
3. The "DVD At Its Best" Awards Competition Contestants compete fora DVD Gold Ring Award. 110 possible categories to enter at the mostaffordable entry fee of any professional DVD competition, from $95 forshort form and $125 for long form. This is the first content event tocelebrate work packaged uniquely for DVD. This is the first contentevent to celebrate individuals - the growing community of creative,technical and management pioneers -- crafting new forms of expressionand communication powered by the special qualities of DVD. Awards willbe announced and winners will be showcased at the DVD Awards Receptionon Wednesday, 7:00pm at the Hilton Burbank Airport and ConventionCenter.
