Systems Engineer - TN (TV)

Scripps Networks, world headquarters for HGTV, Food Network, DIYNetwork, Fine Living, Shop At Home and Great American Country(GAC), has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer in ourKnoxville, Tennessee office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide engineering and computer administrative support forvideo server, automation, and archive systems in NetworkOperations.
• Provide engineering and computer administrative support forpost-production, music, and graphics systems.
• Provide engineering and computer administrative support formedia asset management systems and intranet/internet basedinformation systems.
• Provide engineering support for network infrastructure as itrelates to engineering and operations.
• Significant computer repair and strong computer literacyrequired. May be requested to assist with computer systemsthroughout the company.
• Cross departmental technical support as needed orassigned.
• Minimal travel may be required.
• Pager is required
• May be required to participate in a regular on-callschedule.
• Weekly status reports to Engineering Management may berequired.
• Should make the effort to stay current with all industrydevelopments both technical and otherwise.
• Other duties as need and directed by EngineeringManagement.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: 2-year technical school or equivalentexperience. College degree preferred but not required.

Experience: The successful candidate will have at least 3years experience in a television broadcast environment. Should havesuperior computer skills with experience including, but not limitedto: Unix, Windows NT, and Macintosh systems. Linux , VMS and otheroperating systems helpful. They should be well versed in theoperation and administration of video servers, automation systems,and computer based editing and graphics systems. An understandingof networking, TCP/IP, and general data communications isimportant.

License/Certificate: SBE certification preferred. Othercomputer certifications desirable. Skills/Abilities:

• Superior troubleshooting abilities.
• Understanding of digital and analog electronics particularly asthey relate to computer editing, graphics, and associatedsystems.
• Ability to work with public and with other office personnel inperson and by telephone, often in stressful situations.
