TITLE: Chief Engineer
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effectively manage the planning, design, installation and repair ofall television systems and equipment.

Motivate and manage a staff of professional maintenance engineersand master control operators as necessary.

Coordinate projects; manage the scheduling of personnel; and plan,design and document on-going and future television systems.

Work with related departments; in the determination of present andfuture studio and transmission needs; in the preparation and trackingof capital, expense, repair and maintenance budgets; in the evaluationof equipment prior to purchase.

Communicate professionally with individuals and groups within andoutside of STATION. Communicate on a frequent basis with all otherdepartments.

Maintain good personnel labor relations. Identify training needs,motivate and develop staff to meet the on-going and futuretechnological needs of the station.

Keep STATION compliant with the FCC Rules and Regulations, as wellas related local, state and federal regulations. Work with Corporatepersonnel in particular areas of common interest.

Perform other duties as needed and as directed by [Upper ManagementSupervisor]

Associate degree in electrical or electronic engineering from anaccredited institution or equivalent.

Must have an understanding of electronic, electrical and mechanicalsystems.

A BSEE degree is preferred.

Minimum of three years in management or supervision of anengineering department at a television broadcast station.

Must understand capital and expense budget tracking and be familiarwith all studio and transmission equipment normally in use at atelevision station including computers and networks.

FCC general license, SBE certification and activity in professionalengineering societies are desirable.

Valid drivers’ license and proof of insurance.

Good verbal and written communications skills are mandatory.

An Engineering Manager must be self motivated and able to motivateothers; take the initiative and make things happen; recognize theachievements of others and accomplish positive conflict resolution;find solutions rather than assign blame; be able to function duringdemanding and stressful times; and be time flexible.
