Qualifications: Three to five years of systems administrationexperience. Experience installing, configuring, and administeringInternet services, particularly HTTP and DNS. Proficiency with UNIXsystem administration activities, UNIX commands and utilities, and abasic understanding of TCP/IP routing. A solid understanding of aUNIX-based operating system; understands paging and swapping,interprocess communication, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts (inode, superblock), can use performance analysis totune systems. Solid understanding of networking/distributed computingenvironment concepts: understands principles of routing andclient/server programming. Ability to write scripts using any scriptinglanguage (Perl, Tk, shell, Python) Moderate first-hand experience usingWeb related technologies which include: HTML, PERL, CGI scripting,JAVA, and NSAPi. Must have experience supporting applications built onIBM MQ and MQ Series.

Duties: Senior team participant in developing and maintaining theWebfarm Services and Architectures with specific attention toavailability, performance, capacity planning, and architecture designand implementation. Developing and maintaining operational control andmanagement systems to support Webfarm operations including alarms,alerts, and triage; infrastructure and content change control and loadmanagement. Supporting day-to-day operations of all the systems used todeliver content, which include web, video, application and e-commerceservers. Leading large-scale technical projects, working with CNN staffand vendors to gather requirements, determine solutions, and thenimplement those solutions. Design/implement complex local and wide-areanetworks of machines. Establishes/recommends policies on system use andservices.
